Item Description

Stibnite specimens are rare from this obscure gold-base metal deposit district on the Malaysia portion of the island of Borneo. The mounded drusy quartz matrix hosts a sculptural cluster of intergrown splendent metallic-gray blades. The impressive long blade with nice iridescence is 4.5 cm and the stout upright crystal with the pristine rounded termination is 2.0 cm. The stibnite cluster is visible on the back of the piece, too, as a bonus. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5725 and acquired from the Bourget Brothers in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). An excellent and rare two-sided combination from this most obscure locale.
