Item Description

Microcrystalline pyrite richly and preferentially covers multiple sides on this impressive large twinned calcite rhomb from an unknown Czech locale. The glassy, translucent gray crystal is dramatically highlighted by the at least three prominent twinning planes! Many of the faces are pristine, including some of the twinning planes and yes, there is large areas of contacting with some dings, but this remains an impressive large and rare twinned Czech calcite with pyrite. Two labels list the piece as being from Dolni Rozinka, which is highly unlikely. The locality is a Li-pegmatite, according to MINDAT. Possibly from the Limestone Quarries, Stramberk, Moravian-Silesian Region. Valued at $350 by a former dealer for crystal complexity and combination quality.
