Item Description

This old mine in the extinct Au-Ag-Zn-Pb-Cu Ophir District is well-known for exotic cave calcite helectites and for these fascinating 2-generation fishtail-twinned calcite crystals. The sculptural pair of flattened crystals is nicely accented with the dogtooth calcites in the front. Sparkly, sugary, white, second generation calcite coats the earlier generation of glassy, translucent, layered tan calcite crystals on this very fine 360-degree specimen. Seldom on the market and highly desirable Utah calcite. Ex Phil Richardson Collection.
