Item Description

Dramatic stepped-growth faces on this impressive large fluorite cube from the famous Sunnyside Mine, source of some of Colorado's finest rhodochrosite and fluorite specimens. The lustrous, translucent crystal is a pretty mint-green with white areas. There is snow-white drusy quartz on one side. Complete all-around and pristine, there is a nice surprise on the base. The "nucleus" of the cube is a 1.5 cm section of a golden chalcopyrite crystal! Rich purple fluorescence. Single cubes of this size are uncommon from the Sunnyside. There is a 1986 date on the back of the former dealer label. The mine closed in 1991. A large Colorado classic fluorite. Better in person.
