Item Description

A dramatic and sculptural 360-degree small cabinet combination from the Erongos. Opposing gemmy smoky quartz crystals are very aesthetically nestled between two diverging schorl crystals. The smokies have rich color. The 4.5 cm upright parallel-growth pair are water-clear, while the angled 5.3 cm crystal has a gem termination with a translucent body. The stepped-growth faces on the smokies add real pizzazz. The stout jet-black lustrous schorls have well-striated prism faces with matte terminations of possible small rod-like crystals of Foitite, a rare member of the Tourmaline Group. Correct identification is only possible by suitable analytical methods, but the guidance from the literature is that the species are mixed in this style, as described above. The smokies are pristine. A very architectural and excellent combination from the Shields Flynn Collection.
