Item Description

Zeiringite, blue aragonite from Zeiring (Oberzeiring), Styria, Austria, was originally described as nickeloan aragonite, a nickeloan strontianite or a strontian aragonite, but was later shown to be aragonite coloured by oriented inclusions of Aurichalcite (MINDAT). It is rare worldwide. Beautiful rich sky-blue to pale nubby botryoids are aesthetically clustered on the matrix plate with light gray botryoidal aragonite. The beautiful rich blue compound botryoidal cluster is 2.0 cm. This is a very rare and excellent specimen from the St Gertraudi area of Tyrol. It displays well from either direction. Outstanding, rare Austriaan aragonite material from the Wouter van Tichelen Collection.
