Item Description

A surreal looking large rhodochrosite crystal plate from the Manuelita Mine of Peru. This dramatic and very rare stepped-growth style of lustrous, vivid pink rhombs, to 1.7 cm on edge, has been described as "mosaic" or "vortex". It is illustrated in the locality Photo Gallery with a 2007 photo by Jordi Fabre Minerals and was collected in 2007. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X 48-7 and illustrated on Page 118 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request). Valued at $1500-2000 for unique style, exceptional quality and size.
