Item Description

A very sculptural amoeba-like floater crystallized copper from Ajo. Most of the copper is platy, some is crudely crystallized and there are a few sharp tetrahexahedrons scattered about. The piece has a sparkly to matte cuprite coating. A bonus are scattered patches of tiny rich red cuprite variety chalcotrichite needles. An older specimen from the Kay Robertson Collection with no number. It was lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record) and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Classic and showy old Ajo copper with cuprite with multiple display views.
