Item Description

An exceptional fluorite specimen from this old, extinct, less well-known lead-zinc-barite-fluorite mine in North Yorkshire. Glassy, straw-yellow cubes, to 4.3 cm, are aesthetically intergrown on this very fine mounded small cabinet. The satin lustre cubes have water-clear gem corners and cloudy translucent interiors. Tiny bright golden chalcopyrites peppered mostly in the edges of the cube interiors add character. A rare, pristine 360-degree specimen, except for the modest noted periphery wear. Moderate purple fluorescence. Choice uncommon fluorite from the Dr. Stephen Moreton Collection.
