Item Description

Bohmite is a major constituent of the aluminium ore Bauxite (MINDAT). However, specimens worldwide are very uncommon. Sudoite is a rare complex silicate of the Chlorite Group. The sculptural tan miniature matrix (looks like chert) hosts numerous "seed pods" of the two species. The interior "seeds" are reddish-brown Bohmite and the encasing "pods" are the white sudoite. This extremely rare combination specimen is from a most obscure mine in the Bizen City area. Yoshinaga-cho, Wake-gun was absorbed by Bizen City in 2005 (MINDAT). Very rare Japanese combination material from the David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. Comes with a label from respected rarities dealer Pequa Minerals (Josef Vajdak). Probably from the Itaya mine, Bizen City.
