Item Description

Fantastic stepped-growth/etching on all of the highly lustrous prism faces along with smooth areas on this surreal 360-degree schorl from the Erongos. The striking primary pristine termination is probably composed of a myriad of typical small rod-like crystals of Foitite, a rare member of the Tourmaline Group. Correct identification is only possible by suitable analytical methods, but the guidance from the literature is that the species are mixed in this style, as described above. Partially doubly terminated, as the other end has sharp lustrous faces along with a contact, where another crystal once lay and a bit of bruising. Every turn presents a different perspective to this dramatic unusual tourmaline from the Shields Flynn Collection.
