Shattuckite (excellent quality - 2014 find)

Dramatically sculptural shattuckite from the limited 2014 find at this less well-known extinct open pit copper mine, worked occasionally for specimens. An impressive 3.8 cm nubby bubbly botryoid of cornflower-blue shattuckite dominates this artistic small cabinet specimen. Beautiful shimmering chatoyancy highlights the fantastic two-color rich cornflower-blue radial growth of the acicular crystals on the broken botryoids on the periphery of this striking specimen. The bottom shows, that this is a solid crust of shattuckite, a rare Cu-silicate. The aesthetic form of this piece is remarkable and is certainly one of the finest examples in the small lot we recently received. Valued at $1000 by the former dealer and worth it.
