Item Description

Surreal and uncommon two-generation calcite from the famous Minerva Mine. A striking 5.8 cm cluster of "tied" brown wheat sheaf spiky calcites rests on the sculptural matrix of bundles of tan and cream colored calcite spikes. A fantastic 3.5 cm single crystal brown "fan" of calcite spikes is an incredible accent to this superlative specimen. The brown wheat sheaf bundles are locally known as "coon tail" calcite for their obvious resemblance to raccoon tails! Dramatic two-toned fluorescence, as the brown calcite included with hydrocarbons fluoresces yellow and the lighter calcite fluoresces white. A remarkably sculptural, over the top calcite from the David Burgess Collection, who whom Burgessite is named. Valued at $1000-1500 for unique quality.
