Item Description

Rosettes of lustrous, metallic-gray stibnite blades are richly and attractively clustered and scattered on the undulating glassy quartz point covered matrix on this aesthetic and classic combination from the famous polymetallic mines of Romania. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 587 and acquired from the Shale's in the 1950s. Old-time material, predating the Soviet era. Her label and the Shale's label says Barbatok, Romania. MINDAT does not list that locale. It resembles specimens from the famous Herja Mine. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A very fine and showy old-time combination from the locale.
