Item Description

A sculptural and aesthetic two-sided spray of this rare pseudomorph. Calcite has replaced ikaite, an uncommon calcite varietal with extra water. These are called "Glendonite" and form in mudstone concretions. The lustrous, orange-brown scalenohedrons, to 3.8 cm, form a striking stellate spray. Pristine and certainly one of the more sculptural examples we have seen. These starting coming out in the early 1990s and you don't see many around today. Ex David Burgess Collection.
