Item Description

An old-time, rich and very uncommon style and color of pyromorphite from this ancient lead-zinc-silver mining district, commercially worked until 1954 (MINDAT). The specimen is essentially solid crystallized olive-green pyromorphite. Vugs on three sides host classic robust, lustrous, barrel-shaped prisms. Many of the barrels have stepped-growth and the striking large barrel, at 1.2 cm, is curved! Mineral specimens from the district are fairly uncommon. Most well-known pyromorphites from here are green, acicular to small prismatic, so this is an exotic rarity with stout larger crystals of uncommon color. Ex David Burgess Collection.
