Item Description

A colorful and sculptural combination nodule from this well-known, old, extinct copper mine started in 1845. Bright microcrytalline royal-blue azurite richly covers the knobby nodule of crystallized bladed primary malachite. Specimens of this combination richness and quality are seldom on the market. First worked intermittently as an underground and open pit mine until 1877. A new open pit started in 1969 and the mine closed in 1981 (MINDAT). Classic older material from the David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named.
