Item Description

Caswellite is a RARE and UNIQUE Franklin variety of Grossular Garnet. It is a waxy to resinous material with a foliated appearance and derived from the hydrothermal alteration and replacement of hendricksite mica in the Franklin ore body. Waxy lustrous foliated pinkish-tan plates comprise this sculptural and rich older piece. There also is some yellow-green vesuvianite, a typical association. Specimens are RARE and are seldom on the market. From an East Coast collection and comes with a torn and faded Hugh Ford label dating from 1946 to 57.
