Item Description

Schorl is RARE from this famous old area, known for gold, emeralds and crocoite (Type Locality). The highly lustrous jet-black crystal has a partially healed end and a broken end. The striking naturally healed and slightly bent crystal has pearlescent muscovite in the healed area! Rare, perhaps UNIQUE schorl and probably dates to the Imperial Russia era. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3351. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
