Item Description

Kosnarite is a rare K-Zr phosphate found in complex granite pegmatites. It was named after Colorado mineral dealer Rich Kosnar in 1993 from two localities in Maine (Rich is the father of Brian, who also contributes to our auctions). The world's finest and largest examples of the species were collected from this pegmatite district in 2002 and 2003. Lustrous, yellow-tan, pseudocubic trigonal crystals, to a large 3 mm, are festooned on the front and side of the albite matrix on this very rich and showy example of this exotic pegmatite rarity. valued $500
