Item Description

Beautiful lightly iridescent, rich apple-green, thin square torbernite plates, to about 1.3 cm, richly and dramatically jackstraw-style cover the matrix. Torbernite specimens are RARE from the Saone-et-Loire area. MINDAT lists three localities for the area and the La Faye Mine is the mostly likely candidate. It is near and southwest of Autun. The matrix is a very poorly sorted iron-rich conglomeritic sandstone. Ex Jack Parnau Collection, a well-known California collector who passed away in 1990. He sold most of his collection in 1975. A handwritten note on one of the three labels with the piece indicates he purchased it at the Pasadena Show in 1974. This is an EXCEPTIONAL, VERY RICH and RARE example of the species and locale. FEDEX delivery is available for the specimen. Value???
