Item Description

A beautiful, sharp and gemmy pigeons blood-red octahedral spinel crystal from this well-known Mogok locale. The color saturation and luster are first-class on this pristine 360-degree cutie. The skeletal features and stepped-growth faces add much pizzazz. The crystal glows, when backlit and has rich cherry-red fluorescence. Classic ruby spinel from the Kay Robertson Collection # 13060. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 14.51 carats or nearly 3 grams mass.
