Item Description

An outstanding, rare and rich old-time combination from the famous Phoenix Mine. Fluorapophyllite is uncommon in Copper Country and blocky crystals with pyramidal terminations, often assoicated with analcime, occur more rarely (March-April 1992 Mineralogical Record Michigan Copper Country Special Issue, page 65). Scintillating, gem-like crystals are festooned on part of the striking and impressive, sharp, large 3.5 cm, glassy, porcelaneous analcime trapezohedron, smaller analcimes and the matrix. The large analcime is pristine. The brown oxide tinting adds color and character. VERY RARE and superb old-time combination material, certainly around 100 years old or older. Comes with a copy of the former knowledgeable Copper Country dealer label valued at $3500. We have seen specimens of this quality valued at several thousand dollars at major shows. They are rare and are rarely on the market.
