Item Description

Cacoxenite, kidwellite and beraunite are rare to uncommon phosphates. Combination specimens of this richness and quality are very uncommon from this obscure small cut of a manganese prospect discovered in 1983 (MINDAT). The colorful and sculptural vug has well-placed green kidwellite partially coating the rich lining of bubbly yellow cacoxenite botryoids. The vug is rimmed by contrasting sprays of highly lustrous orange-red beraunite lathes. More cacoxenite and beaunite is noted on the back of the novaculite matrix. Choice and rare combination material from the Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine and we recently obtained his collection. A must for the species or locality collector. The piece displays well without aid. Valued $500-700.
