Item Description

This old limestone quarry used for making cement also hosts a variety of phosphate species. Variscite is very uncommon from here. A rare 3.0 cm vug is lined with juicy, translucent, green botryoids and pods and veins of variscite continue around the laminated, brecciated slate matrix. Hard to see, but part of the left side and bottom have been polished to bring out the rich green color. Showy, rich and rare style variscite from the locale.
