Item Description

A superb, large 5.0 cm, lustrous, crystallized goosecreekite "ball" is dramatically set in the sculptural large vug in basalt matrix. Goosecreekite is one of the very rarest Zeolite Group species and this is an exceptional combination from recent finds at Nashik. The impressive, glassy snow-white crystals are beautiufully framed by the vug shape, which is fully lined with small goosecreekite crystals and scattered fields of botryoidal mordenite, another rare Zeolite Group species. The small cluster of pinkish-red heulandites next to ball are a super accent. The size of the cluster, balance in the matrix, and the pure white color, combined with high luster, make this an exceptional display specimen in combination - such a piece would have sold for $2500 or more when they first came out in the 1990s and stunned collectors. They STILL are the best in the world, by a long shot! But a slow trickle of good pieces has brought down the prices, admittedly, and so one can own literally world class examples of this beautiful species for much less. This particular piece was $1000 wholesale at Tucson in a mixed lot of Indian minerals.
