Mineral specimens are uncommon from St. Louis County, Missouri and dolomite specimens are RARE. This superlative sculptural vug in limestone matrix with a striking hole is lined with pearlescent, pretty pastel-pink saddle-shaped dolomite rhombs. A 1.2 cm, gemmy, light straw-yellow doubly terminated calcite crystal, plus a few more smaller calcites are super accessories to this very fine combination old-timer from an East Coast collection. There is a century-old A.E. Foote label glued to the back of the piece. Undoubtedly from a long-extinct old limestone quarry in the county.
