Item Description

Phosphophyllite is certainly one of the world's great Holy Grail mineral species, along with euclase from Colombia, proustite from Germany and Chile, and legrandite, purple adamite and scorodite from Mexico. This impressive and very rich, larger than average specimen is from recent finds in the Machacamarca mining district of Bolivia, not the famous and typical locality of the Unificada Mine at Cerro Rico, as listed on the base with the piece. Dozens of translucent, beautiful green color (not iron-coated), euhedral crystals with "butterfly"-twins measuring up to a LARGE 2.5 cm are very aesthetically set on the plate. This is an exceptional and rich larger specimen of this rare phosphate species from the finds with a very noteworthy large crystal. The piece has several fine display views. Valued at $3000-4000 and worth it.
