Item Description

Classic, desirable and very rich bi-colored pyromorphite from the famous Les Farges Mine. Two generations of prisms are festooned on all sides of the sculptural elongated barite matrix. ALL of the myriad of lustrous, wet-look tapered spindles have olive-brown bodies and mustard-yellow tips. The larger parallel-growth crystals, some with hoppered terminations, reach 1.2 cm. This world-class pyromorphite locale produced a dizzying variety of excellent specimens prior to its closing in 1981 and these are some of the most striking, unusual and desirable varietals. Valued at $800-1000 for richness, quality and combination. Ex Joe Lobell Collection of Oklahoma.
