Item Description

A classic, 2.5 cm, gemmy and lustrous, purple-cap, bi-colored trigonal tourmaline is dramatically set in a striking large mountain range of sharply terminated, gemmy light smoky quartz crystals. The glassy, well-striated tourmaline has teal-blue and pink sections below the termination. The fantastically different shaped gemmy smokies have both water-clear and satin luster faces, adding much character. Fields of cleavelandite blades with scattered lilac lepidolites are super accessories to this outstanding and sculptural 360-degree specimen from the Irv Brown Collection. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The tourmaline and smaller smoky are pristine. Gentle bruising to the large smoky tip and along one prism face are noted, along with the basal periphery wear. These certainly have minimal impact to the overall very high quality of this excellent large combination from the famed Tourmaline Queen Mine. Older material mined from the 1960s to 80s. A MUST for the San Diego pegmatite collector. Valued at $2000.
