A doubly remarkable and rare spessartine garnet from Tongbei! First - juicy, gemmy, rare, rich ORANGE-RED spessartines cover this sculptural mounded small cabinet. A sharp trazezohedrons, to 1.0 cm, have classic and beautiful striated faces. Orange-red spessartines came from limited finds, as most crystals from here are cinnamon-orange. Second - a striking "volcano" cast of spessartines crowns the piece. The cast is probably from a dissolved smoky quartz crystal, that once occupied the site. There is a spessartine inside the base of the cone. The interior is pristine on the fantastic and rich piece. The gemmy crystals GLOW with rich red color, when back lit!
