A 6 mm, sharp, splendent metallic-black bixbyite crystal is dramatically set on the termination edge of a beautiful, champagne-colored, doubly terminated topaz crystal from the famous Thomas Range. The striking water-clear gem has typical rhyolite "sand" included and embedded on the crystal. A pristine, classic and excellent topaz and bixbyite combination thumbnail from the Ted Bartels Collection. It was collected in August of 1994. Little new material has come out in recent years.
