Item Description

Gem, very glassy, bluish-gray fluorite cubes, to 1.7 cm, cover the sawed granular fluorite matrix on this showy and excellent plate from the ancient and extinct fluorite-barite mines in the area. Purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2942 and acquired from Willard Perkin in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Classic fluorite from this locale.
