Item Description

RARE from the famous Himalaya Mine, these very sharp blocky tabular smoky quartz crystals are called "pseudocubic" due to their distinctive form. This very glassy, strikingly modified floater crystal has fine light smoky color and is transparent to translucent. Some faces are glass-clear with others having a silky luster. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a small edge bruise on the back. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12478 and acquired from the Hamel's. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Fascinating and RARE style smoky quartz from this renowned locale. A MUST for the San Diego pegmatite collector. valued $500
