Item Description

A RARE, impressive and aesthetic smoky quartz combination from this well-known extinct tungsten greissen deposit. It's famous for outstanding creedite, smoky quartz and combination specimens of fluorapatite, fluorite and bertrandite. A sculptural spray of glassy, transparent/translucent smoky quartz crystals have dramatic layered phantoms. This outstanding 360-degree specimen has striking contrasting preferential overgrowths of sparkly drusy quartz with an unusual secondary overgrowth of clusters of tiny glassy microcrystals. We showed this to our staff mineralogist, Tom Campbell, who believe these may be tiny bertrandite crystals, which are well-known from here. Choice, very fine and RARE combination material from the 1990s finds from the Ted Bartels Collection.
