Item Description

Galena and fluorite combinations of this crystal size and unusual quality are RARE from the famous mines of Cave-in-Rock, which includes the famous Minerva No. 1 Mine. A 3.0 cm sharp, lustrous, metallic-gray compound galena cube is dramtically set on matrix covered with unusually colored fluorite cubes and another galena. The translucent cubes, to 2.0 cm, have satin luster faces with teal-blue interiors and pretty violet edge highlights. The scattered tiny rubyjack sphalerites on the back confirm the Hardin County locality. One corner of the galena cube is bruised and scattered bruising to the fluorite cubes is noted, but these are certainly minimal detractions to this uncommon and exotic combination from Cave-in-Rock. Purple fluorescence. The photos could not capture the true teal-blue color of the fluorites. Choice material from the Allen Dillwith Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
