Item Description

It's not common to find gemmy Sapphire crystals from any world locality, as they are highly valued as gem rough, and are often faceted into gemstones at the source. This piece is an attractive thumbnail for this locality. A beautiful gemmy pink and purple bi-color Sapphire crystal free of matrix. Despite a few nicks and rough edges, it still draws the eye due to its superior GEMMINESS and sharp, lustrous well-formed faces. The crystal actually shows different hues when you rotate it in your fingers as the colors blend together in different ways. From the discovery in 2008, which produced a small number of fine quality and eye-catching specimens. Specimen weight is 33.80 carats. A great piece to add to a Corundum suite, or a thumbnail collection. From the collection of John Arnaud, formerly of Westcliffe, Colorado.
