Item Description

A fine old classic! This matrix heulandite specimen is a fine old-timer that probably predates WW1. Several, thick, pearlescent and translucent, ivory colored heulandite crystals, to 3.2 cm in length, are emplaced nicely on a fine grained volcanic matrix. The largest crystal is also doubly terminated. Zeolites like this from iceland are becoming much rarer. The specimen comes with an old Hugh Ford label. This is as fine and aesthetic an example of the species from this remote locality as I have ever seen for sale, and frankly can hold its own as a specimen for the colelctor even against the voluminous material currently coming out of india in qulity in this size range because the ivory color and porcelain luster is so fine here; and because the crystals are so nicely isolated on matrix - both qualities lacking, most often, in contemporary Indian material from the Deccan plateau. valued $750-950
