Item Description

From a find in the 1970s this is a very attractive and hard to find display specimen of the well-known but elusive Gypsum specimens from Betekom, Belgium. This piece is a complete doubly-terminated "floater" specimen featuring compressed / layered crystals forming a somewhat "barbell"-shaped group. The crystals are sharp and lustrous and show a somewhat silvery-golden internal hue when backlit. No damage that I can see with the naked eye, and the piece is notably gemmy when backlit. These are hard to find, and pieces with this particular crystallization are few and far between. From the collection of Renaud Vochten (specimen #6319-38).
