Item Description

Mineral specimens from this very obscure Ouray District mine are EXTEMELY RARE. This is a very showy and very rare, possibly unique, pseudomorph. Sparkly, iron oxide-tinted stepped-growth quartz crystals have replaced a striking, diverging 360-degree pristine spray of very sharp dogtooth calcite crystals. The dramatic, dominating central crystal is 2.7 cm tall. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9692 and acquired from Harvey Gordon in September, 1982. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). An impressive, rare and pristine Colorado pseudomorph. A MUST for the locality, species or pseudomorph collector.
