Item Description

A stout sharp 4.0 cm schorl monolith is dramatically set atop combination matrix on this impressive large specimen from the famous Golconda district. The complete all-around lustrous, jet-black trigonal crystal has a striking modified pincoidal termination with the etched modified edges and the lustrous artistic stepped-growth termination. The bladed cleavelandite puffballs atop the massive quartz matrix add pizzazz to this fine 360-degree combination. Contacting on the schorl prism faces, where more cleavelandite once lay and a bit of termination edge wear are noted, but this remains a noteworthy and uncommon large schorl matrix combination from the famed district. Excellent material from the Ted Bartels Collection.
