Item Description

Well-crystallized galena is uncommon from this renowned world-class Pb-Zn-Ag deposit! Most galena was massive, granular or disseminated. This is a surreal, OLD-TIME, RARE combination from the Proprietary Mine. The fractures on all sides of the striking boxwork matrix of galena cubes have been altered into pearlesent cerussite. Several of the vugs host green copper oxides and are a super accessory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8368 and acquired from the Cisneros'. Previously in a German collection and comes with faded, old 2-sided English label. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). An exceptional, bizarre looking and rare old-time combination from Broken Hill!
