Item Description

Densely intergrown mounded clusters of lustrous, bronzy pyrite cubes with a limonite coating are artistically attached to both sides of the pyritized matrix ledge. Well-crystallized mineral specimens are, in general, very uncommon from mineral deficient Texas, except for the Terlingua District, celestines from the Hill Country, topaz and REE's from the Llano Uplift and rare salt dome species. This sculptural and pristine piece comes from a Cretaceous limestone cement quarry southwest of Dallas, known for authigenic pyrite nodules and marine fossils. Uncommon and excellent 360-degree Texas pyrite from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
