Rhodochrosite

Item Description

Glassy, lustrous, translucent, cherry-red rhodochrosite rhombs are very aesthetically set on the mounded sulfide matrix on this very showy, colorful and rich specimen from the famous Sweet Home Mine. The gorgeous rhombs, to 1.6 cm on edge, rest on a sawed matrix of tetrahedrite with chalcopyrite accented with fields of tiny quartz points. The three larger central crystals are pristine with the rhombs on the ends having some cleaved faces. This remains a classic very rich and colorful highly representative combination with two fine display views.
