Item Description

A fascinating, old-time 3-sided quartz wedge features striking radiating, star-like, milky quartz crystals on this very showy piece. Each side presents a different perspective. These old-time unique so-called "star" shaped radial quartz specimens were first discovered in the 1850s and soon became famous. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5573 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The locality is now in a natural preserve (since 1963) and has been covered over with soil (MINDAT). These specimens are so distinctive!
