Item Description

An extremely fine heulandite from one of the famous traprock quarries at Paterson. Two isolated, pearlescent, glassy, colorless, typically layered crystals are aesthetically set on the basalt matrix. The large and pristine doubly terminated crystal on the edge is 5.0 cm. The repair to the inner crystal has been removed and you can barely tell there was one. It remains a remarkably well-balance matrix specimen. The piece has an excellent provenance, having been in the collection of Steve Smale, a very famous collector noted for his excellent taste. He used to have a large suite of zeolite minerals from both India and New Jersey, of which this was one. It is an INCREDIBLE USA Heulandite, hard to believe! Valued $900-1250
