Item Description

The finest azurite rosettes found recently have come from this well-known Chinese copper mine. Good pieces compare favorably with classic specimens from the US or France. This excellent sculptural piece is highlighted by the large, blocky, lustrous, beautiful electric-blue to dark navy-blue azurite blades, that radiate along the crest of piece like backbone plates of a dinosaur. Complete all-around and esentially pristine. The out-of-sight attachment is at the base and lower on one end. This fine azurite displays beautifully without aid. Classic style and high quality azurite from the Kay Robertson Collection # 12504 acquired from the Rocksmiths in Culver City. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Kay's label is incorrect. This fine azurite is undoubtedly from the Shilu Mine in Guangdong Province.
