Item Description

An impressive, rich and sculptural large old-time calcite from the famous Joplin Field. Gemmy and lustrous, tan nailhead calcite scalenohedrons in striking jackstraw fashion aesthetically cover the matrix peppered with tiny brassy marcasite crystals. The imposing large central crystal is 10.0 cm. Very nearly pristine with only a trivial amount of bruising to smaller calcite crystals on the periphery. The piece has multiple fine display views. An classic and exceptional large calcite from this historic locale from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 120. Fairly valued at $1750-2000.
