Item Description

Glassy, lustrous, translucent, flattened nailhead calcite rhombs with tapered edges and finely striated faces are festooned on all three sides of a large lustrous, glassy, color-zoned fluorite cube corner from the famous Denton Mine. The impressive large rhomb on top is 3.0 cm and for all the crystal density, there is only a trivial amount of bruising. The color-zoned fluorite is striking in itself. The outer zone is a beautiful water-clear, gem ice blue. The cleaved base shows a striking, rich purple phantom followed by a very glassy, light straw-yellow interior. Rich purple fluorescence on the blue and purple fluorite, but not on the yellow fluorite. Classic, very rich and showy large combination calcite on fluorite from the Ted Bartels Collection. A North Star Minerals, Ross Lillie label comes with the piece and indicates the piece was mined in January, 1988.
