Item Description

Fine large barite specimens are very uncommon from Serifos Island, famed for outstanding quartz prases, andradite, ilvaite and hedenbergite specimens. This impressive large tapered tabular two-sided crystal is nearly completely terminated on all edges. The translucent, grayish-white crystal with pearlescent luster faces has striking, jagged, cogwheel-like termination edges, especially on the left side and across the top. The back edge of the lower right side of the crystal is dinged and the attachment is at the base. An outstanding and RARE large single barite crystal from Serifos and the Ted Bartels Collection.
